Well I looked on myself as a stranger and thought, ‘’How could I have known you so long?’’
And I passed through the pain and the danger slow..and the hurt that consumed me was gone.
All the folks that I knew didn’t know me at all..and I heard someone say, ‘’Sure he’s gone’’
And I moved through the air like a raven or crow.. and I stopped when I came to my home.

And I passed over hills, towns and valleys...
In a stretch I could cover the sky.
With the rivers and valleys below me
And I longed for my wife and my child.

And I saw they were cold there beside me...and the heat from the fire, it gave no warmth
And the words that I spoke went unheeded, so I left on my own...in the dark.

Well I spoke to the man at the river...and he said that he’d row me across..
‘’And there’s no turning back now’’ he told me. ‘Make your peace, say goodbye to all you’ve lost’’.

With a sigh I let go of the Earth now... and he guided me through the piercing light.
All around was the sweetest, strangest music ... and I gave up the ghost without a fight.
