ContraWave began as a solo project of Paul Mahoney.
Various musicians would contribute to projects and gigs on a casual basis.

The band formed fully in the summer of 2013, following a live session recorded for THE Dan Hegarty show on RTE2FM.

'Gold In The Ground' - an EP - is the band's debut release.

ContraWave aim to produce music that reflects their love of many different genres and styles.
